Week 1

We're back baby. After a long winter hiatus and breaking half the lights on the Timber Ridge patio from swinging at the simulators.. the boys are officially BACK.

Luka behind the bar, Rashad on the grill, Josh messing up the starting times for the leagues, it feels just like home!

Kicking off Week 1 was a little worrisome due to potential rain storms but thank god we have J Ging who gets so high he talks to God face to face, and somehow talked him into holding off the rainstorms so we can get this thing started.

After a rules briefing by the Commish it was time to get going. With about 6 bowls sparked across the playing field and a slow fade in of Chris Cross - Sailing, Jake in his stellar North Carolina blue pants took the box for the inaugural first drive, and it was a nice one!

Group 1: Jake & Anthony [-3] vs Eckl & Jack [+3]

It's safe to say there is one name this year that strikes fear in players heart's when you know you're against him, and that's Turrisi Jr. The heavily favored pairing faced off against Eckl and Jack, which ultimately came down to the last hole in hopes to grab a tie - but the power of Anthony and Jake was just too much. I mean when you got the baby blues on with the pristine white golf shoes, it was over before it started!

Group 2: Cavs & Buster [-1] vs Ryan & Tommy [+1]

Commissioner Cavs was coming off a golf high from the prior Saturday at Eagle Vale, beating Rico Jr and Ryan straight up and some might say that, mixed with the feeling of starting the league, was a distraction out on the course. Usually, this matchup would be a very tight but this week it was anything but! Ryan found his ball striking and was lacing the golf ball all around the front 9. If putting didn't let him down, this match had the potential to be dormie after hole 4. Something happened with Buster this week, not only was the short game off but the mid game and the long game disappeared. Carding a 47, we shook hands on the 9th green and then he disappeared.. No doubt Buster comes back with a vengeance next week.

Group 3: Rico Sr. & George vs Bunting & Turrisi Sr.

A straight up matchup between these duos, no line, just golf. Surprise surprise, this thing was tied all the way around but not for lack of effort. We heard this one went back and forth quite a bit and we even got to witness the first club throw of the season from Geo on the Par 3 7th - who claimed "his anger got the better of him". No doubt we see a few more club throws from Geo throughout the season. As the finished groups watched this matchup come into the 9th hole, Bunting sank a 20 footer which felt like it meant something, but got no reaction from the other players. Maybe they were too stoned to know it went in? We are still unsure the accuracy of the scoring on this one, but it was reported that the Bunting and Turrisi Sr. pairing won this, and we are just going to go with it!

Group 4: Johnny Cavs & Bryce [+2] vs Rico Jr & J Ging [+2]

Our featured picture this week tells the story of this matchup. With almost no warm up or golfing prior to today, Bryce came out and shot a 42 which stunned the Rico and Ging pairing. With this being a finals rematch from last year between Rico and Bryce, it appears that if Rico has any kryptonite to his golf game, it's going against Bryce. Vegas nailed the line with this one and due to Bryce's stellar play this matchup resulted in a tie - which did ultimately come down to putting on the 9th green. A big congratulations to Johnny Cavs who secured points in week 1 this year - last year it took him 15 weeks to get anything on the leaderboard!
