That's it for week 10, and what a week it was! With a lot of best dressed candidates and a beautiful day, the anticipation was high to get this one going. As players gathered on the range to discuss the lines - the field was stunned by the caps the bald eagles were sporting in a look that might stick around for a while..
Heading to the tee box the boys popped a bottle of champagne and ripped a shot of beam as new Grandpa Ricotta led a toast to Johnny Raina, congratulating them on the birth of their baby girl Kay!
Group 1: J Ging & Bryce [-1.5] vs. Jack & Tommy [+1.5]
Going no warm-up, Bryce came ready for this one with snacks, bongs, cheese and crackers as Cuz ging and him were ready to let it rip against Jack and Tommy. Catching up with this group on the 7th hole, it was basically a win-out situation for Jack and Tommy due to Bryce playing out of his mind. Maybe powered by the snacks or simply the vibes being paired with Ging but from what was shared, this group could beat anyone on any given day. Rattled by the consistency of the opponents, Tommy just couldn't get it going this week in an unusually high 40s round. Don't look now, but Ging is red-hot and is potentially a win out from sneaking into 3rd place on the leaderboard next week. Is he getting any work done at Signature or is he just spending time on the range?
Group 2: Cavs Sr. & George [-2] vs. Rico Sr. & Bunting [+2]
The giggling that was going on on the range and putting green as this four-some was getting ready to play was unbelievable, it was like they haven't seen each other in years! All smiles from the old guys as this one kicked off were quickly wiped away as every player pulled their drive to the left off the first tee. However, at the dinner portion Commish reported that he played the round of his life (until the last hole) and had an outside chance at carding a round in the 30s. Take away the double on the last and he would have done it. But, its a tough day when you go to take out your putter and find it snapped in half.. maybe sabotage from the opponents when he wasn't looking? Althugh Rico and JB couldn't get this one done, they definitely blamed it on the line and were looking for 4.5 for this one. But, JB is coming on strong lately and striking the golf ball well!
Group 3: Buster & Anthony [-1.5] vs. Turrisi Sr. & Eckl [+1.5]
At last, the king has fallen! In what may have been a very hard line for Turrisi Sr and Eckl to overcome, Vegas had a hard time deciding on this one because every time we give Turrisi Sr an inch, he takes a mile and has been unbeatable all year. Although it was semi-close at the end, Buster and Anth had this one wrapped up fairly early, forcing a scenario where Eck and Turrisi had to win 3 straight to take it. Hard to do against arguable the two best players in the league. With the Turrisi's being out next week, the door is wide open for some shakeups at the top of the leaderboard, making Week 11 very interesting.
Group 4: Rico Jr. & Jake [-1.5] vs. James & Ryan [+1.5]
Cawww... Cawwww.. was the cry heard around the course as the bald eagles joined for the last matchup of the year against James and Ryan. In a tight line, this one was going to be a battle as there is nothing Ryan loves more than going bird hunting. Getting in their heads early, Rico took a large chunk out of the 4th green after a putter slam and frustration bean to boil over. But, never count out the eagles. In a late push, the pair found themselves 2 holes up, or .5 up with the spread going into the last hole. Ryan and James knew they had to win to take it, and couldn't have had a better chance. In another heartbreaker on the last green, Ryan and James both had less than 5 foot looks at putts to seal it, both riding over the lip and just missing. Down the stretch, Ryan had about 3 lip outs which would have won holes and ended this match early, but it wasn't meant to be. Congrats to the eagles on an undefeated summer - and uh oh.... who is sitting T1 on board now? Is that Sciortino?
IR: Johnny Cavs
Johnny Cavs suffered a minor leg contusion, and is listed as week-to-week. Scouts report that he is walking fine, but infection could lead to worse conditions. Johnny was able to attend the dinner portion of week 10, and is expected to miss one more week due to travelling. It is reported he will seek rehab in the Tampa Florida area next week, as salt water, margarita's and strip clubs are his typical recovery methods.
