Week 10

Jul 15
4 min read

Week 10 had the boys looking like they were on a bachelor party as almost everyone had on a white polo to beat the heat. Not JB though, who was rocking the lightest shirt he could find with the nice Hawaiian.

Speaking of JB, highlighted in this week's feature image, has just entered grandpa life with the birth of little Scottie! Congrats cuz! You now qualify to move up to the closer tee boxes with Rico Sr. and Cavs as a part of the grandpa club.

Props to Rico Sr. for importing the finest Italian champagne for the celebrations this week. Bringing in the finest champagne you could buy for under $10, he led a toast on the first tee box to the new grandpa. Thank god it was cold!

In other news: Teams are starting to trickle in for the tournament on August 2nd. Currently we have 8 teams registered with rumors of more to be registered soon. Please keep the reminders going for your people to submit their teams via the website link or text it in the group!

Group Results:

1.  Eckl & Jake [-2]  vs. Jack & Bryce [+2]

The well anticipated battle of the Thornton St roommates (and Eck) led the way this week. With jake leading this group off the first, sliced one immediately into the trees and this group was off. Rumors swirled early as a confident Bryce was suggesting bumping the line down a half point as reports were he has been playing good golf as of late. As this was not officially submitted before the round, the line was fixed at 2 and turned out to be the right decision. As this group came into the last couple holes, Bryce was reported sinking two monster putts to push and secure the tie after 9 holes. A popular new choice has become adding a playoff hole in the event of a tie and that's exactly what this group did.. unfortunately no one was good enough to seize the opportunity and they all said forget it. Call it a tie. In a rush to hit the bar, all four shared the 1.5 points this week.

2. Rico Jr. & George [+1.5]  vs. J Ging & Anthony [-1.5]

Cuzzo Ging and Anthony set to face off against Rico Jr and Geo this week in another barn burner. At least on paper, this line was knocked down since the last time Rico and Anthony met in week 5 at a 2.5 line. Being 1.5 this time, you would think advantage Anthony but something about these two squaring off brings Rico to another level. Perhaps the long drive in allowed him to find his happy place because Rico carded a 40 this week and the Geo/Rico pair was able to win this match straight up without the help from the line. Cuzzo Ging might be cursed, or lost his edge because McGregor screwed him over the weekend and he lost his parlay. As Ging claims he is no longer betting, we will see how long that lasts!

3.  Cavs Sr. & Uncle Rico [PK]  vs. Turrisi Sr. & Bunting [PK]

In what some are calling the Senior Bowl, the working guys faced off against the retirees and this group was as giddy as ever to all be playing together. In all the excitement, surprisingly, all these guys hit seeds off the first tee with both carts cruising right down the fairway to get it started. As Turrisi and Bunting had all day to rest up for this one, reports were that Turrisi got his drink on early and usually that means bad news for whoever he is playing against that day! Reports following this round was it was truly even all the way around as all players contributed to winning or pushing holes, but as it came down to the last hole, the retired guys were bale to secure the win. Sending Commish and HR packing with the loss this week, JB and Turrisi Sr. got to walk away with the bragging rights!

4.  Ryan & Tommy [+2]  vs.  Buster & Johnny Cavs [-2]

Having to follow the old guys was a treat for group four who got to take their time and have a very laid back round. At least that's how Johnny Cavs felt as he went Wegmans Sushi as his cart snack this week on a 95 degree day. Ryan and Tommy on the other hand fought tooth and nail just to stay alive against Buster. With Ryan stealing the first hole, the pair went 3 up (with the line) to take a commanding lead. But, Buster stormed back to rattle off 3 wins and pushing this group to even with two holes to play. In a Ryan / Buster showdown, the both of them went par / par in the last two holes to also add to end the match in the tie. Coming into the second to last hole, Johnny had no idea we were tied and that there was a lot on the line! Prayers up for Tommy who sits high on the leaderboard but has his game backsliding, but don't worry his game always comes back around.
