Week 2

ree

Nothing like the a familiar feeling of playing November golf in May, as temperatures this week dipped into the high 50s.. factor in the wind-chill and we were just above freezing.

But, at least Ging talked to God and had the sun out for us so that was a plus.

Golfing aside, there seems to be a new focus week to week now and that's who is winning the best dressed award. In week 1 Sciortino showed up with the powder blue pants, setting the tone and this week we had a few contenders to take the title. Turrisi with the checkered pants, Geo with the fresh pink shirt, Rico Sr with a new outfit from head to toe..

All great efforts, but nothing came close to Sciortino sporting the fresh red pants with the matching top to go with the Stealth Driver. That outfit must have been for the Mahomies.

Group 1: Turrisi Sr. & Rico Jr. [-3]  vs. Cavs Sr. & Rico Sr. [+3]

A nervous matchup for the league office this week going against two Signature Open killers in Turrisi Sr and Rico Jr. Oddsmakers set this one at 3 which proved to be a fair line as it came down to the very end, but play around the 9 was surprising. Carding a 47 and playing undoubtedly the best golf we've seen - Rico Sr. was said to have the ball on a string, striking fear into his son that maybe his dad was going to beat him straight up?

However, Turrisi Sr. closed the door on this one with stellar short game, growing the target on his back even larger. Perhaps he was flying under the radar as eyes were on his son, allowing him to sneak to the top of the leaderboard with two convincing wins.

The fans are starting to wonder when we will see Commish and Rico Sr. get some points on the board, I can see a lot of range balls hit and hyde rips this week as they prep for next week.

Group 2: Ryan & Bryce [+2]  vs. Bryan (Ryan's Dad) & Eckl  [-2]

This grouping had "Major" feeling written all over it. Ryan's dad filling in put Eckl's nerves to rest knowing he just had to play his game and the rest would take care of itself. With Bryan struggling to get warmed up in the first few holes, going +4 very quickly, Eckl was sinking 40 foot birdie putts and lacing the golf ball to chip away at the spread.

Losing the first two holes, Ryan & Bryce hung in to keep the matchup even as Bryce was able to win two holes along the way with an impressive birdie on the creek hole. But, Bryan went -1 in the last 5 holes, carding a 39 and sealing the win on the last hole with a par.

Group 3: Johnny Cavs & Jack  [+3] vs. Tommy & J Ging [-3]

Don't worry, about a thing. Cause every little thing, is gonna be alright! This group may have been singing around the course as the smell of dope was lingering in the air. With the line set at 3, reports were it wasn't as close as we would've hoped as Tommy seemed to rebound from last week, finding his game. With multiple chances to push holes and even confident play from Johnny Cavs, the Tommy and Ging combo was just too much. Now Tommy sits tied for 1st going into week 3 and Ging is right there behind him at the top, not bad!

Group 4: George  [+6] vs. Jake & Buster [-6]

Perhaps the weirdest grouping the Signature Open has ever seen. With Geo forced to play alone due to Eckl Sr. withdrawing at the last minute, oddsmakers scrambled to figure out the right way to treat this matchup on the tee box. As Buster was running late, pushing this group to the last tee time, this line changed from +7, to +6 and eventually was determined to be a gentlemen's tie.

League officials are already calling for Eckl Sr. suspension for an undisclosed amount of time, due to disrupting league etiquette and prioritizing anything besides golf on Tuesday. At least he did join the group for dinner, which goes a long way for Rico Sr.
