What a week for the boys! With so many storylines developing, it is hard to keep up.

First things first, after long debates in the league office the committee is pleased to welcome back Eckl Sr. as our stand-in sub. To gain trust back he was paired with Rico Sr.. but more on that in a bit.

We almost had sun this week as temperatures hovered around the high 50s, and we were treated with following the ladies league which backed up play so bad we had 3 groups on the tee box. Not bad playing 9 holes at an 18 hole pace!

League Etiquette Warning: We have noticed a pattern starting with the Masi family members stringing along the starting tee times. League expectations are arriving no later than 4:00 for an hour's worth of warming up and drinking before we start, anything less will be noted!

Group 1: Rico Sr. & Eckl Sr. [+1.5]  vs. George & Ryan [-1.5]

Back to Rico Sr. - after carding an impressive score the week prior and telling everyone to go practice, all eyes were on this RAM sponsored player as first one on the tee box. To which he followed up with one of the most impressive drives we have seen out of him, getting the league fired up and saying, "this is what happens when you go practice!".

It might have been the adrenaline or the dope but he quickly turned into Eckl Sr.'s swing coach, which could have been the downfall for this group. That or the colored golf balls. Either way, Geo and Ryan sealed this one as 2 up with 1 to play - leaving Rico Sr. empty on points for another week and wishing he could find a 4-hole golf league.

Group 2: Rico Jr. & Tommy [+2.5] vs. J Ging & Anthony [-2.5]

This grouping felt almost personal between Anthony and Rico Jr. as the line was heavily debated leading up to the tee time. With the line settling on 2.5, Rico felt he had to play some of his best golf to pull out a result. But, there is no stressing when you have Tommy in the cart who is seemingly becoming an auto-win when you are paired with him! This matchup went all the way to the last, with a winner-take-all showdown on the green between Rico and Anthony.

After Ant knocked in his putt, Rico was forced to stare down a long 15 footer with a hope and a prayer. But.. as fate would have it, his putt found the bottom of the cup, leaving Anthony stunned.

Rico Jr. and Tommy stole it on the last making Tommy the outright league leader and sitting at a record of 3-0!

Group 3: Cavs & Jake [PK] vs. Bryce & Jack [PK]

A straight up showdown in group 3. No line, just golf.

Some were calling this the battle of Thornton St as the old household got back together to battle it out. Jake, sporting a classy Packers themed outfit was dialed in early, as the first one on the range to get loose. But, the real story in this one was the play from Cavs who aside from 2 bad holes, played out of his mind and never let the Bryce/Jack pairing in. Call it chemistry in the cart as Cavs and Jake had the tunes rolling and the vibes at an all time high, this was a must win for Commish to start climbing the leaderboard, and Jake remaining with his fellow bald eagle at T2. The leaderboard doesn't reflect the play from Bryce and Jack though as there have been strong cases to earn some points, just have come out on the wrong side of it so far. It's early, and next week Bryce is paired with Rico Sr. which is maybe calling for some Pinot Noir?

Group 4: Johnny Cavs & Buster [+1.5] vs. Turrisi Sr. & Eckl [-1.5]

Another uncertain Vegas line in this one as this was the first time in league history Buster had started out as the underdog. But, with a large target on their backs - Turrisi Sr and Eckl Jr. have been playing incredible golf and deservedly the favorites in this match. With what seemed to be an up and down match for both the golfers and Johnny's emotions, this one also came down to the final putt. With a showdown between Turrisi and Buster, it came down to Buster needing to hit a 5ish footer for birdie and the win.. which in true Buster fashion was no problem! Johnny, already a pre-round meal in was ready to get back to the restaurant and put in for another turkey sandwich, feeling very comfortable with the 3 points and sneaking up the leaderboard!
