Mark it down for Week 4 as focuses are starting to shift from golfing to who has the best outfit week to week!
Coming in as a strong 1A this week, as determined by the Commish, Rico Sr. and Bryce were dressed fabulously in their colorful flower shirts! Mix that with a sunset ride around the course and a nice dinner, it may have made Rico's top 10 days of his life.
Coming in as 1B in the outfit competition, Ryan and Rico Jr. attempted to rattle Jake while sporting the Chicago Bears gear mixed with some fresh white pants.. although this turned out to have the opposite effect and took Jake to a whole new level. More on that later.
Trouble in Paradise? Commish is coming under fire and all eyes will be on the league office this week as the ladies were in a uproar after their times were switched around. Word has it that Commish had called in some favors to get the boys alone on the front nine and the ladies league was pissed. We will all be wondering what will happen next week and which league will be making it to dinner first.
Group 1. Rico Jr. & Ryan [-2.5] vs. Jake & Turrisi Sr. [+2.5]
Well, this did not go as planned. Rico and Ryan came dressed as the Bears to get in Jake's head but they should've known better because the Packers OWN the Bears. Losing early and often, Rico and Ryan looked like they had never played golf before as Jake and Turrisi Sr. put the hammer down. Jake undoubtedly played the best golf we have seen this year and while the card read 43, this round felt like a 39-40 for the Packers faithful.
Halfway through, Tino goes "You guys should've went with the Vikings." and then piped a drive down the middle.
What a win for the pairing and a big congratulations to Jake, claiming the undisputed top spot on the leaderboard.
Group 2. George & Tommy [-1] vs. Jack & Eckl [+1]
Vegas' inbox was full of complaints leading up to this tee-time as there were many mixed feelings on the line going into this. In a tough one to call, this matchup was always going to come down to who wants it more.. and as it turned out that player was Swoopy. Grabbing his first 3 points of the season, Jack and Eckl took it to Geo and Tommy going way ahead early. With a comeback too late in the round, Geo and Tommy were able to make it competitive but the power of Eckl and the touch of Swoop's putter was just too much.
Group 3. J Ging & Johnny Cavs [+3.5] vs. Bunting & Cavs Sr. [-3.5]
Does anyone remember Michal Block from the PGA? Or, maybe USA vs Russia in the Miracle on Ice? How about Johnny and Ging taking on the Commish and Bunting?
In a shocking upset, the SaunaLaHims chemistry and mental strength may be something to fear in this league. Using their unorthodox methods of high dope usage, getting the cart stuck in creeks, and not remembering what ball they hit or where they hit it too, might have all been intentional to get in Cav's head. Some may call it luck, others may call it genius!
With a spread of 3.5 in this one, Johnny and Ging somehow found a way to win 4 holes as Johnny was sinking putts from downtown and Ging grabbing a few of his own along the way. Both the LaHims remain deadlocked on the leaderboard as their unspoken compeition against each other gets pushed another week! Who knows, these two may be battling each other for first place in a matter of time.
Group 4. Rico Sr. & Bryce [+6] vs. Buster & Anthony [-6]
Perhaps the highest line the Signature League has seen, but rightfully so with Buster and Anthony in the same cart. This one turned into a defensive battle for Rico and Bryce as echo's of HOLD THE LINE rang through the golf course as if we were watching The Patriot.
Unfortunately, team Flower Power did not hold the line, although it did come down to the last green which is all you can hope for. Buster and Anthony won 7 of the 9 holes and the league may be looking in to moving them back to the blacks if that pairing happens again!
At the end, it didn't matter because Rico and Bryce finally got to enjoy their sunset golf together and as Rico would say, "That's Livin".
