The boys were officially BACK this week with the first week of perfect attendance in the 2026 season! Couldn't have asked for a better day. Everyone was so excited to see each other there was no chipping, putting, or warming up pre round as the fellas stood in a circle chatting all the way up until tee time. Everyone must have felt prepared!
Official welcome back to JB, who took the month of May to rest up to come in strong in June. The clubs got an official dust off after pulling them out of the basement - but more on his match later.
I don't know what was better, the golfing or the dinner that followed. With Anthony taking care of the first round of drinks, and a special treat from Rico Jr. providing the ice cold milk for dessert along with the remaining cookies. True class!
Questionable choice form Rico Sr. however filling up his empty whiskey drink with milk because it had ice in it already.. must have tasted nice!
Morning Karaoke: This weeks morning Karaoke by Jake featured Dim All The Lights - by Donna Summer. If you haven't seen the video, its a must watch. Simply breathtaking!
Week 4 results:
1. Turrisi Sr. & Ryan [PK] vs. Buster & Eckl [PK]
In the self proclaimed match of the week, turned out to be anything but! With 4 striped drives off the first box this match was anticipated to be even throughout but things went downhill quick for Ryan and Turrisi. Buster birding the first hole set the tone and with a chance to answer on the par 5 11th, Ryan landed on the green to putt for eagle but 4-putted for a bogey. Eckl said it was painful to watch. In an uncharacteristic round for Turrisi, he struggle to find the patented cut and ended up carding a 52 on the day with only one par. That's 3 straight L's for Ryan who is on a generational slide and will be looking to rebound next week in a big way!
2. Cavs Sr. & Johnny Cavs [PK] vs. J Ging & Jake [PK]
This group had chaos written all over it, and it didn't disappoint! Johnny Cavs who was on the way to golf got a call from his lawyer on the highway causing him to whip the car around and head to court. Thinking he would have to go alone, Cavs and Jake debated over the new line but turns out Johnny was able to still make it to the tee time after a case dismissal and they were off to the races. As Cavs said he was driving the ball all over the place, made up for it with stellar short game and carried this group into the last hole, sealing the win on the 9th green with a comfortable two-putt. Jake and Ging may have been too distracted as Jake had the crisp white pants on thinking about Penn State and Ging thinking about Karl Anthony-Towns and NBA Youngboy.
3. Jack & George [+4] vs. Uncle Rico & Anthony [-4]
The year's highest line as Vegas tries to figure out a way to put the rest of us on an even playing field with Anthony! Turns out, this was spot on. As the round turned into a true grind for Anthony on a mission to cover, Geo had this year's good luck charm and had the privilege to share the cart with Swoopy. Turns out, this match was dead even going into the last hole and Geo had to make an impressive up and down from just off the green to save par. With some beautiful touch, Geo was able to sink the putt, matching Anthony's par and was able to claim the tie for the group. Swoopy for the 4th straight week remains at the top of the leaderboard but some players are hot on his heels for the top spot.
4. Rico Jr. & Bunting [PK] vs. Tommy & Bryce [PK] Jack Daniels Match Of The Week
Whenever we are treated to a Rico Jr. vs Bryce matchup, there is always fireworks. As this one became personal early in the day, moving this match to the third Pickem of week 4 in a dead even battle. As Rico Jr. handedly buried Ryan and Cavs last week, Vegas was leaning towards them as the favorite but turns out Bryce holds space in Rico's head and took this one the other way. Let's not forget, Tommy has been arguable the hottest golfer so far this year with consistently good play every week. As Bryce and Tommy came into the last hole with the lead, were able to hang on and take this match 1 up, stealing 3 points. A nice fresh Jack Daniels and Coke for Bryce this week as is the standard bet for him and Rico! The players were wondering how JB would shoot this week, being that he hasn't swung a club since last August. Turns out he hit it pretty good, but looked nice and comfortable out there in a full winter jacket in June. Some were saying he was out there just to enjoy the nature and take in the views!
