Week 5

Week 5 has come an gone, as the league finally starts to enter the premier months and the battle for Signature domination continues. Every week we have new developing storylines and almost always surprising results coming into the dinner portion!

Featured this week: Happy Father's Day Rico Sr - gifted a fresh all leather RAM bag from his loving son, straight out of Caddyshack!

League Etiquette Warning(s):

The league office this week has put out a memo regarding the Masi family flirting with starting time delays. Being an informal second warning, Commish has considered fining Mascot moving forward with each delay!

An additional etiquette warning has been placed upon JB's attendance record to start the league. The stress placed upon Commish to find a sub every week is just too much! At the Signaute League, we expect all evening plans on Tuesday to be cancelled, with full focus on golf. Anything less is deemed unacceptable!

Group 1. Bryce & Tommy [PK] vs. Turrisi Sr. & Weigand [PK]

Originally a Turrisi Sr. and Bunting matchup, the late addition of Weigand in place of JB threw vegas into a frenzy to get a handle on the favorite in this match. Ultimately, this felt like an even matchup and proved to be just that. After word got out that Turrisi shot an 82 at Deerfield over the weekend, there definitely was a target on his back coming into week 5. The Bryce and Tommy pair gave them a run, with Tommy carding a 5 on almost every hole. But, with a lapse in putting and finishing holes strong, Tommy and Bryce couldn't pull out the W, as Turrisi and super-sub Weigand sneak away with this one.

Turrisi Sr. once again claims the solo leader atop the leaderboard!

Group 2: J Ging & Jake [-1.5]  vs. Jack & Rico Sr. [+1.5]

With Sciortino golfing as good as his outfits of late, and consistent play from Ging week after week, this duo found themselves the favorites against Rico Sr. and Swoop. However, it must have been the power of the RAM bag because Rico Sr. and Jack went OFF, with Rico Sr. almost parring three holes back-to-back-to-back. This round was seemingly sealed by the 7th hole, which was an impressive result for the pair! Rico Sr., who has been practicing day in and day out, finally earns his 3 points, getting his first W of the season. Ging, knowing this one was over got potentially the highest he had been at the league so far, or maybe it was the shrooms!

Group 3 Rico Jr. & Buster [-1] vs. Ryan & Eckl [+1]

Up and down this one went - a matchup that felt major esc with two powerhouse duo's squaring off. Losing the first 2 early, Eckl and Ryan were in early trouble knowing the cushion of their line was immediately erased. But, with the opportunity to put Eckl and Ryan away the greens got the better of Buster and Rico Jr. as putts could not drop from 5 feet and in, allowing Eckl and Ryan to climb back in and take a 2 shot lead. With a late collapse and piss-poor play by Ryan coming down the stretch, Rico Jr. and Buster were able to rebound and push this match, winning the last hole to make it all-square.

Group 4 George & Cavs Sr. [+4.5] vs. Johnny Cavs & Anthony [-4.5]

Another tall task for Anthony as he feels he consistently has to play stellar golf with the high lines vegas has set for him. Maybe the field is giving him too much credit? Cavs and Geo surprisingly sealed this one early, and found themselves up by 2.5 with the spread with 2 holes to play. Giving credit where credit is due, Commish and Geo are finding their form as of late and the consistently good play has been noted. Moving forward we expect Anthony to come back and climb the leaderboard with a vengence as a player of this caliber won't be held down for too long.
