Week 5

A lot to say for week 5 as tensions ran high, which maybe we can blame on the heat.
It all started when the lines dropped for the day and Uncle Rico's mood quickly went from wondering what the soup of the day was to who made the Vegas line? Questioning whether him and JB were worthy of only getting 2 holes instead of 6 led to a lot of questions from the other groups.
Quickly the Rico Jr. vs Anthony line was also questioned at 2.5 which was the same line used last year.. (more on this match in the results)
But perhaps the biggest rivalry of the week was the Jake & Jack vs Bryce & Jay match. We had comments flying in from wherever Wiegand lives saying Jay & Bryce was the lock of the century at -2.5. Taking this personally, Tino did not treat the boys to morning karaoke this week which may have been a sign of the day to come.
From the retirement community, Turrisi Sr. cracked his first genny light at 9:30am after the group questioned whether he wakes up with coffee or a cold one, he answered that question quickly!

Week 5 Results
1. J Ging & Rico Jr. [+2.5] vs. Anthony & Eckl [-2.5]
As mentioned, this one was highly contentious to start the day trying to place the line on this one. As Anthony continues to be the most feared golfer in the league, players scramble to get as many holes as they can against him. Looking back a year, last time Rico and Anthony met it was on the front 9, with a 2.5 line and Rico drained a 15 footer to win the match. Fast forward to this year, we are on the front, the line is 2.5 and Here. We. Go. Paired with JHim Brunson this week, Rico carded a 7 on the first hole and gifted Anthony a hole right out of the gates. You would think it would be over already but somehow, the Rico and Ging cart was able to get the good vibes going and Rico went on a tear the rest of the way. Grabbing a par on every hole except for one, Rico was "On Anthony's Ass" and never opened the door for the Anthony and Eckl pairing to grab a hole. Leaving the pair stunned, history repeated itself as Rico was able to take down Anthony and we can't wait for the next time these two meet!
2. Bryce & Jay [2.5] vs. Jack & Jake [+2.5]
Something was off in this group, as tensions were way to high! Jack, 4 week league leader and Jake were perhaps against a tall task in facing Bryce and Jay but we're gonna chalk this one up to mental lapse instead of poor play. With no morning karaoke Jake must have been off the whole day which is no energy you want to carry in to Tuesday, especially when Wiegand is chiming in from the clouds trying to get in your head! Bryce and Jay seemed to be on easy street, taking it to the Swoopy and Jake pairing as Jake really questioned Vegas' ethics post round saying it was rigged! Perhaps he will be seeing a fine from the league office coming his way for comments made in the post match presser.
3. Uncle Rico & Bunting [+2] vs. Schmitty & Tommy [-2]
The first Rico and JB pairing of the year had these two looking forward to getting it over with quick and getting to dinner! On the other side, Schmitty and Tommy looked ready to rock n roll, especially Schmitty who wore a 25 year old, tattered shirt, inside out, with holes everywhere to the course... Safe to say he did not win best dressed this week, good god. As Uncle Rico complained about his line all day, this match did end up being dead even going into the last hole, as Vegas knew them better than they know themselves. Ultimately, Schmitty grabbed a birdie on the last, getting Tommy his 3 points to climb to the top of the leaderboard. Not wasting any time, Schmitty hopped in the car and headed out anxious to get home and change his shirt!
4. Cavs Sr. & Turrisi Sr. [+1] vs. George & Ryan [-1] Jack Daniels Match of the Week
One side wanted this as an even match, the other wanted this one as 2 point underdogs.. looks like we met in the middle. In what turned out to be more one sided than it should have been, Geo and Ryan were able to steadily take this one but it wasn't easy. There were holes where a 6 was the winning score as ugly play plagued this group early in the round. Something needs to be said for what some are calling the collapse of the king, as Turrisi in the past two weeks is going the wrong direction going from 52 to a 55 this week. Never before have I heard "what the fuck" so many times in nine holes. As the Cavs and Turrisi group was in complete shambles, Geo and Ryan giggled to themselves around the course, as they had them right where they wanted them. Turrisi may have to consider mixing it up in the "all woods" bag and adding in a few irons or wedges to get him back on track. Or, maybe try that morning coffee!
