Week 6

Tonight, the music seems so loud

I wish that we could lose this crowd

Maybe it's better this way

The boys on week 6 had a day!

If you couldn't tell, Tuesday karaoke featured Careless Whisper with Jake singing at the top of his lungs to get the boys fired up for Tuesday's showdowns. Setting the tone for the day to come, the morning tune got the boys fired up for the key matchups to come.

With a lot of early arrivals to the course this week, you can tell the desire to win is picking up as we just about hit the halfway point through the league season. But, we have some strong advocates to Vegas this week to ease the high lines.. more on this in the match results.

Also, apologies on missing some of the scoops this week by not staying for dinner!

1.  Ryan & Bryan [-2.5]  vs. J Ging & Buster [+2.5]

Ryan bringing the big guns in this week by having his dad sub in, thought he was a shoe in for the W. Especially with Buster dislocating his shoulder the week prior and shooting a 90 in a tournament a few days prior. With this info Vegas set the line at 2.5... but with Bryan being the player he is, usually brings out the best in the competition. This match quickly turned into a two man match as Ryan and Ging were simply there to ride around and bring the vibes. In a par and birdie fest, Bryan and Buster finished with a 33 and 34 on the day (2-under and 1-under). Insane. However, being match play, Buster sealed this match early being 3.5 up with 3 to play. A tough showing the for the Taillie pairing, but goes to show good golfers balance good golfers in match play events!

2.  Jake & George [+4]  vs. Anthony & Eckl [-4]

Almost the same story as the group prior, a high vegas line by a group of good golfers! However, last time Geo and Anthony met, the line was also 4 and it ended in a push. A line this high makes it had for the Anthony&Eckl group because losing one or two holes puts them out of it pretty early. Well.. Geo and Jake did not waste any time. Playing the round of his life (and featured in the picture this week) Geo carded a round in the 30s, with contributions from Jake along the way with good play and a long par putt on the par 5. With Geo going with the Airplane celebration on the short drivable par 4, seemingly sealed the match there, as all hope was lost for Anthony and Eck. With the line being so high, it completely overshadowed the round Eck had, also carding a 39 this week in the best round he has played to date.

To recap.. Geo, Eckl, Buster and Bryan all had rounds in the 30s this week.. something must have been in the water.

3.  Turrisi Sr. & Rico Jr. [-2]  vs. Tommy & Jay [+2]

Match 3 ended up being a bit more even, as this line was initially proposed at 2.5 but knocked down to 2 looking at the history of Tommy covering week after week and Jay being hot. Knowing that, it proved to be true again as Tommy and Jay found themselves 4 up with 5 to play, putting Rico and Turrisi Sr. in a win-out scenario halfway through the round. Pulling themselves together, Rico and Turrisi went on a tear and found a way to get this match to the last hole in a win-to-tie situation. However, with Rico missing a not-to-easy putt on the last, allowed Tommy and Jay to escape with the W being 1-up at the end. Tommy continues his hot streak with his only loss coming in week one, and remaining at the top of the leaderboard. Some are calling Jay the undertaker, as this year's league supersub and finding a way to win every time he comes to play!

4.  Cavs Sr. & Ian [-2]  vs. Uncle Rico & Johnny Cavs [+2]

In a nervy group 4, Ian took a break from the fight-game to try his luck at some golf this week. Paired with Cavs against Uncle Rico and Johnny Cavs, this match was probably more vibes than golf. As Rico continues to advocate for more strokes each week, he may have a case as the struggle for points remains. However, with this match was even going into the last hole Cavs was able to steal this one by securing a par. Uncle Rico was wearing the Tiger Woods red this week hoping it would inspire good play. Unfortunately, he will have to reload and face Cavs again next week.. the pressure is too much!

Next week is a big week as we continue the tradition to celebrate our beloved Sherri! The Keystones will be cold and the tunes will be loud!
