Who Do You Think You Are? I AM!!
Who Do You Think You Are? I AM!!

Happy halfway point in the Signature League as the boys wrap up an electric Week 8!

To start - this was the second pairing of the year featuring Bryce and Rico Sr and who else would you expect to take home best dressed? Sporting the Bryce Hook bowling gear and supplied with chips and queso these two were set to enjoy another perfect weather day at the league, and enjoy some quality time with each other!

As we conclude week 8, which marks the halfway point (and is crazy to even say), there's starting to be a true separation from the pack for a few players and just as an end of year preview - here's how playoffs would look if they were to start today... Side 1

Something to think about as we battle it out on the leaderboard!

Group 1. Cavs Sr. & Rico Jr. [-2] vs. Tommy & J Ging [+2]

You wouldn't know it by the drives off the 10th tee - but this group actually had some great golf throughout the round! In a tough test for Tommy and LeHim up against Team Signature, this matchup went the distance and was a shootout all the way through. In a tale of two halves for Team Signature, Cavs started hot making a push to chip away at the 2 point spread, with an impressive par on the par 5 11th, and hitting a 60 yard chip in (after going OB) to save par on the following hole. However, from what I heard Ging and Tommy were not going way quietly, with Tommy carding a 43 and Ging finding a birdie along the way, they forced Rico Jr. to have to get hot and rise to the occiasion. Parring the last 4 holes to stay alive, this group ended in a dead even draw and shared points across the foursome.

Group 2. George & Anthony [-1]  vs. Jack & Buster [+1]

In a Goliath vs Goliath matchup - all eyes were on Anthony and Buster to see who shall stand atop the mountain as the leagues most feared golfer. In a fairly even line at 1, this was expected to be par city all the way around. But, with Anthony putting the pressure on and never taking his foot of the gas, maybe forced Buster's hand too much and as the round grew on, just couldn't hold the 1 point line. Anthony and Geo took this one in the end with relative ease, with another stellar week from Anth shooting -1 in total.

Group 3. Rico Sr. & Bryce [+1.5] vs. Jake & Eckl [-1.5]

I see skies of blue.. and clouds of white.. and I think to myself, what a wonderful world!

Was probably being listened too by the Rico and Bryce pairing, aka the Merlot Maniacs, as the two went up against the two of arguably the hottest (playing but maybe also appearance wise with Tino's outfits?) golfers in the league, who were all business right from the jump. Staying hot on Turrisi Sr.'s heels, Jake has been very hard to beat this year and this week was no different. With another tight line, this matchup seemed to be one sided and the Merlot Maniacs, although enjoyed a nice day together, were left begging for points as Tino and Eck said thank you very much, who do we got next week?

Group 4. Ryan & Turrisi Sr. [-6]  vs. Johnny Cavs & Bunting [+6]

One of the highest lines we have seen this year in the league, as the target grows bigger and bigger on Turrisi Sr.'s back, as he has won every week outside of week 3. Needing to win 7 of the 9 holes, the pair needed to get hot and stay hot against a Johnny Cavs and Bunting duo who can show flashes of danger here and there - not an easy test! As the JB and Johnny pair pushed on both the par 3's this matchup came down to a winner take all hole on the 18th. To set the stage, Turrisi Sr had about an 8 footer for birdie and in everyone's mind that was the writing on the wall.. But Johnny had other thoughts in mind.. Hitting an impressive 3rd to the back of the green, Johnny left himself a 20 footer for par and everyone knew it was make it or go home. With the entire league around the green watching, Johnny locked in and sent the putt rolling.. rolling.. rolling.. and DROPPING! With everyone celebrating and Ryan collapsing to the ground - we had to settle back in as Turrisi was still staring down a birdie opportunity and still a chance to win. Getting multiple reads from his partner, Turrisi hit what looked like a pulled putt, but maybe he's got a remote control ball because somehow, this roll caught a slope and found the cup, dropping for birdie and CUSHING the spirit of Johnny. Heartbreaking.

Turrisi Sr. remains the king of the league and Vegas will be looking to out an end to this madness soon!
